Slug is Liam Gibbs, an electronic music producer from Cape Town, South Africa. The Slug sound combines elements of old-school goa and psy-trance with modern dance floor grooves and production technique. Early work included collaborations with Xatrik, released on Timecode and Afrogalactic Records, and a compilation together with Shift entitled "Penguin Rebellion" released on Nexus Media.
In 2004 Slug released his first solo album "Loose Your Shell", as well as exclusive tracks on labels such as Timecode, Nexus Media, Planet Ben, Ketuh Records and others. 2005 saw another album release - this time in collaboration with Shift as "Pitch Hikers".
Slug has performed at many of the legendary outdoor parties in and around Cape Town, including Vortex, Alien Safari, Timecode etc. as well as performing at a number of festivals and clubs in countries such as Japan, Germany and Portugal.
Slug also co-manages the Nexus Media label together with Shift, and is a label Dj for Planet Ben Records. When he is not travelling, he lives in Cape Town where he produces in his studio at home, where he lives with his girlfriend and daughter.
